Takato Kano Gallery Yokohama is pleased to present Yuki Koyano Exhibition from 8 July to 31 July.
Koyano was admitted to Tokyo University of the Arts directly from high school, and since his early twenties has held numerous solo and group exhibitions.
Rooted in traditional Japanese painting techniques using natural mineral pigments, Koyano’s work blends classical aesthetics with a contemporary sensibility. His compositions, characterised by vivid colours and accessible imagery, have garnered strong support from younger audiences.
In his representative work, “Double Helix Gunzo-zu”, he explores the spiral as a fundamental form of life, drawing inspiration from the fetal rotation during birth and the structure of DNA. Koyano regards the spiral as a symbol of life’s origin, and has made “life” a central and consistent theme in his practice. The piece depicts countless intricately painted individual lives collectively forming a larger spiral of existence. Connecting people across generations, the work proposes a renewed vision of Japanese art, seeking to reinterpret tradition and transmit cultural memory into the future.
We warmly invite you to experience the singular vision of Yayoi Kusama.
We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery.
