Hiroshi Senju is a globally recognized Nihonga (Japanese-style) painter, renowned for his distinctive works featuring waterfalls and water motifs. Born in Tokyo in 1958, Senju gained international acclaim through solo exhibitions in cities such as Sydney, New York, and Singapore. His masterpiece "Waterfall," displayed at the 22nd APEC summit, further established his reputation as a leading figure in contemporary Nihonga. In 1995, he became the first Asian artist to receive an Honorable Mention in the painting category at the 46th Venice Biennale, marking a historic achievement. Beyond his paintings, Senju has contributed to public art projects, overseeing the art direction of airports and train stations in Japan. Based in New York, he continues to promote Nihonga as an internationally significant art form through lectures and publications.
