Tokuro Katoの詳細情報

Tokuro Kato
Tokurō Katō was a renowned Japanese ceramic artist and ceramics historian from Aichi Prefecture. He dedicated his career to studying and reviving "Momoyama"-period pottery techniques. However, his career faced controversy due to the "Einin Tsubo Incident", in which he was involved in the forgery of an ancient ceramic piece. As a result, he lost his status as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure). Following this incident, Katō focused solely on his pottery, creating works that remained highly respected in the ceramic world.
