Takashi Murakami

Takashi Murakami is one of Japan’s leading contemporary artists and pop artists, serving as the President of Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. He obtained a Doctorate in Fine Arts from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1993 and has also been a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Murakami is known for incorporating Japanese anime and subculture into his unique artistic style, gaining international recognition in the field of pop art. His work is characterised by bold compositions, vibrant primary colours, and flat, graphic expression, drawing strong influences from Ukiyo-e and the Rimpa school. Alongside his own creative work, he actively fosters emerging artists, serving as the chairman of the "GEISAI" project.
