Seiji Tōgō was a celebrated Japanese painter known for his romantic and elegant depictions of women, a style often referred to as the "Tōgō Style". His graceful compositions and refined aesthetics gained him widespread popularity both in Japan and internationally. At the young age of 19, he won the prestigious Nika Prize at the Nika Art Exhibition, an influential platform for Western-style artists in Japan. In 1921, he moved to France, where he studied modern European art and developed connections with artists such as Pablo Picasso.
