A Noh mask is a traditional Japanese theatrical mask used in "Noh", a classical performing art that flourished during the Muromachi period (1338–1573) and continues to be performed today. It plays a crucial role in expressing the character's personality and emotions. There are various types of Noh masks, representing deities, men, women, spirits, and demons. Through intricate carving and colouring techniques, these masks create subtle expressions that change with lighting and the actor’s movements, allowing the audience to perceive different emotions.
