Nobuyuki Araki
Nobuyoshi Araki is one of Japan’s most influential photographers and contemporary artists. Following the passing of his beloved wife, he developed a distinctive photographic world imbued with themes of Eros (life/sexuality) and Thanatos (death), capturing subjects ranging from sensuous flowers and nude figures to Tokyo’s cityscapes, meals, and his pet cat. With over 500 published photobooks, Araki’s body of work spans decades, from the Shōwa era to Reiwa, continuously challenging and captivating audiences. While some of his works are provocative, his artistic vision has profoundly shaped contemporary photography and visual culture.
