Mineo Okabe
Mineo Okabe was a distinguished Japanese ceramic artist, born in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, as the eldest son of renowned potter Kato Tokuro. Raised in a family deeply rooted in ceramics, he developed an early appreciation for pottery. After serving in the military in 1940, he resumed his ceramic work, expanding his expertise across traditional techniques such as "Oribe", "Shino", "Kiseto", "Ash Glaze", and "Iron Glaze". His most acclaimed works include Oribe and Shino pottery, distinguished by their unique "Jōmon"-inspired textured surfaces, which earned him high recognition for their originality and artistic depth.
