Imaemon
The "Imaizumi Imaemon" lineage traces its roots to the early Arita ware tradition, with the first generation pioneering "aka-e" (red overglaze decoration). The current 14th-generation Imaemon has refined and expanded the traditional "sumi-hajiki" (wax-resist technique), which creates intricate white motifs on a glazed surface. At the age of 51, he became the youngest artist in the ceramics field to be designated a Living National Treasure (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property). In recent years, he has experimented with platinum decoration and collaborated with Baccarat, further evolving the Imaemon legacy in contemporary ceramic art.
