Banksy is an anonymous artist (street artist), political activist, and filmmaker based in the United Kingdom. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine graffiti executed with a distinctive stencil technique and dark humor. Primarily using stencil art, a graffiti method involving templates, he creates politically charged works on city walls, often expressing anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian messages. His unauthorized installations in institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum, as well as his provocative public interventions, have led some to refer to him as an "art terrorist."
